Roots Roadhouse is the kick off event to the Grand Ole Echo --The Los Angeles-based live roots music series. Roots Roadhouse is an all day festival taking place at Echo and Echoplex stages plus the Echo patio stage and string performers and square dancing at the Old Time Is A Good Time Stage.

Roots Roadhouse is inspired by the outlaw country spirit and cosmic cowboy soul; different genres are showcased during the mini fest that are all part of American roots music.  This years performers  include the "Ragin' Cajun" Doug Kershaw with the Dave & Deke Combo,  bluesman Cedric Burnside, honky tonk singer Dallas Moore, rockabilly king James Intveld, murder ballad balladeer Amigo the Devil plus Zephania Ohora, Ruby Boots, Alice Wallace and Teddy & the Rough Riders.

In addition to the live performances there will be BBQ from Shadygrove foods, vintage clothing and instrument vendors and country music memorabilia on display.

Unlike many of their contemporaries, however, this foursome not only taps into early British Invasion rock-n-roll as translated by sax infused bands such as the Dave Clark Five, early Stooges and The Sonics, but they also put their own snarling, full throttle spin on it, leaving just enough L.A. sleaze in the mix to make it their own.

Their curriculum includes musical road trips with Eddie and the Hot Rods, Adam Ant, D-Generation and even Green Day, who they supported on two arena tours on two continents. Frontman Kevin Preston has also continued participation in Green Day side-project Foxboro Hot Tubs.

While touring the US and Europe, Prima Donna was in and out of the studio numerous times, both at home in L.A. and in Milan, Italy. The finished product is Nine Lives and Forty-Fives, an 11-song variety pack that displays the band’s skills in the studio, and compiles some of their rarest and rawest recordings, including “Rock and Roll is Dead,” available for the first time in U.S. The track was named one of the Top Ten Songs of 2013 by Little Steven’s Underground Garage.

Nine Lives and Forty-Fives features eight original songs, and three covers: “I’m On Fire” (Dwight Twilley), “Rock and Roll is Dead” (The Rubinoos) and “Rip Her To Shreds” (Blondie).
