(There is no quality rip of this EP anywhere online. This version was painstakingly transferred from "The Gospel Truth, Box Set, 2012 on Easy Action Records". Rip settings were as follows, .wav/Wave/PCM, 24-Bit, Stereo, 176400Hz. Then transferred to FLAC @ 16-Bit, Stereo, 44100Hz. For posting purpose and it still came out great. The original Masters are lost to time, but at least we got this. Maybe someday someone will remaster and issue it from a clean vinyl. We have come so far since 2012.)

 

Final years and disbandment (1986-1989)

By early 1986, the Lords had replaced Tregunna with Grant Fleming (ex-Kidz Next Door), and augmented its lineup with a second guitarist, Alastair Symons (ex-The Dirty Strangers)^. Without a record deal, the band spent most of the year touring the US and Europe. They contributed two songs to I.R.S.'s soundtrack for The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2: "Good to Be Bad" and "Mind Warp". The songs weren't written specifically with the film in mind, according to Bators: "They were actual Lords' songs. When we got approached about it, I read the script and adapted the lyrics to it."When asked in 1986 how the Lords ended up on the soundtrack, Bators said: "Miles is our manager, publisher and ex-record company. So, our manager approached our publisher, who approached his record company.

In 1987, German independent label Perfect Beat released the Lords' rerecorded version of their 1983 single "Dance with Me". It was the last recording to feature Symons before he left the band shortly after. Produced by Vic Maile, the Psycho Sex EP followed later in 1987, released through the French label Bondage International. "Real Bad Time" was released as a separate single from the EP.

Turner and Fleming both left the band at the end of 1987 to be replaced by Danny Fury and a returning Tregunna in 1988. The Lords continued to gig around England and Europe for the next year and a half. In 1988, Illegal released the live album Live at the Spit, recorded in Boston during the Lords' first American tour in 1982. Perfect Beat released two further live albums in 1988 and 1989: Scene of the Crime, recorded in Zürich in January 1985; and Second Coming, recorded during an October 1988 tour of Germany. A studio recording of the The Creation's "Making Time" was released as a single in 1988 by Perfect Beat.

The Lords of the New Church broke up when Bators ended the band onstage after a concert on 2 May 1989, at the London Astoria. In order to pay off a tax bill, the Lords had booked a tour in spring of 1989. When Bators was told about the forthcoming gigs, he declined to do them. "Stiv said he couldn't do those shows because apparently he's hurt his back very badly", Tregunna said in 2003. When Bators, who by this time was living in Paris, eventually agreed to do only one show, the rest of the band decided to put an advert in the music press looking for a stand-in singer for the remaining dates. "We thought "If it looks like anyone could possibly do it, and it is a chance in a million, we'll then introduce him to Stiv", James said in 2007. "All these people came down, but none of them were right, so we thought "Let's not even mention this to Bators." ... And so we did this show at the Astoria in London and sure enough he came on at the end with a T-shirt with our ad on it, and started to fire us all."

Bators died after being struck by a car in Paris in 1990. James said in 2007: "The only other person I've really been able to write with was Stiv Bators ... Me and Stiv were fantastic. I've never really had that with anybody else. ... it was like the riff master and the lyric master working together."

Jim started the hot-rod rockabilly and motorcycle rock 'n' roll band in 2005, Cody joined the band, then Kasey joined the band. They have a pretty fun time playing music together. They've played in ten different countries and put a lot of miles on a Ford van. They're professionally endorsed by Gretsch Guitars. They're based out of West Frankfort, Illinois by way of Berlin, Germany. They dig tattoos, small displacement scooters, Harley Davidson motorcycles, Bigsby vibratos, the smell of old pre-amp tubes.

Playing what has been dubbed "Hot-Rod Rockabilly," this Illinois trio takes the traditional rockabilly sound and soups it up with a high-octane edge. The Blacktops play more towards the raw rock influences of bands like The Black Crowes, throw in a little throttle, and combine the groove of Chuck Berry and Eddie Cochran to create danceable music without the thinness of pure rockabilly. "Its basically rock-n-roll, with a punk feel to it," says guitarist/vocalist Jim Rotramel.

Crediting Dallas Alice's frontman Sean Hopkins with the nickname "Skinny" (its from an Eddie Cochran song), the Number 9 Blacktops take their name from an old country road outside of Hill and Rotramel's hometown of West Frankfort, Illinois. "We'd drag race CR 250s until our knuckles bled," says Rotramel.

Sometimes poignant, sometimes funny, and sometimes straight up offensive, you owe it to yourself to at least say once, “I saw Dallas Alice.” This ain’t your daddy’s country music, but bring him on down anyway… he’ll probably have a good time.

Dallas Alice is a rootsy Rock-n-Roll band from Louisville, KY. Singer/songwriter Sean Hopkins, singer/guitarist Justin "The Colonel" Hughes, singer/lead guitarist Nick Reifsteck, singer/bassist Nate Thumas, and singer/drummer Matt Nofsinger are the principal gang of hoodlums that are Dallas Alice, but friends are welcome to stop by anytime.

The Dallas Alice sound has been described as “country rock”, “alt-country”, “folk-a-billy”, and “yeesh!” The band considers itself “Louisville’s WORST insurgent-folk-country-rock band”, and some people would have to agree. What cannot be denied, however, is Dallas Alice’s personality. This band is one of the loudest, drunkest, foul-mouthed, and downright fun bands you are ever going to see. You’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you may have to defend your girlfriend’s good name, but goddammit, you’re gonna have a good time.

With influences ranging from Steve Earle and Uncle Tupelo to the Clash and Social Distortion to Townes Van Zandt and Tom T. Hall, there’s something for everybody.

NINE POUND HAMMER

Nine Pound Hammer is an American hardcore band formed in 1985 by vocalist Scott Luallen and guitarist Blaine Cartwright in their hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky.

Nine Pound hammer was one of the first rural hardcore punk bands to substantially incorporate rural blue collar motifs into the minimalistic hardcore sound. Their lyrics (suggestive of outlaw country) featured themes such as alcoholism, rural poverty, and violence, and included references and homages to the likes of Jesco White and Dale Earnhardt. In contrast, most of the urban, experimental cowpunk bands of 1970s/80s Los Angeles and the UK were roots rock, folk rock or New Wave bands incorporating country music instruments and influences as a secondary (sometimes temporary) aspect of their sound.

Following the breakup of the band in 1997, guitarist Blaine Cartwright formed the band Nashville Pussy, which shares many of Nine Pound Hammer's musical and lyrical conventions with the addition of a lead guitarist and a more hard rock/Southern rock-focused format.

Nine Pound Hammer first played at The Ross Theater, opening for the Xtian rap group, The Disciples Of Decadence, in nearby Evansville, Indiana, with drummer Toby Myrig, David Epperson, and bassist Brian (Forrest) Payne, in 1984. David and Brian left, and Bart Altman, thunderstick man from The Disciples Of Decadence, joined on bass. This lineup played a single show at the Ross Theater as The Yuppie Mop Dogs on August 31, 1985. The band played locally in Owensboro, Kentucky and Evansville, Indiana, garnering a very loyal following before relocating to Lexington, Kentucky as the Raw Recruits. The band then changed their name to The Black Sheep and became the house band at Great Scott's Depot. Darren Howard replaced Toby, and the band became Nine Pound Hammer again. The name of the band is taken from the Merle Travis song Nine Pound Hammer.

Brian Moore (Active Ingredients) and Rob Hulsman (Tarbox Ramblers) joined on bass and drums in 1988, just before recording the band's first LP, The Mud, The Blood, and The Beers.

In 2005, Nine Pound Hammer was asked to pen a theme song and lyrics for 12 oz. Mouse, a new Adult Swim animated series showing on America's Cartoon Network. Singer Scott Luallen also appears in the series as the voice actor for the character Rooster. More recently, they were featured on Aqua Teen Hunger Force Colon Movie Film for Theaters Colon the Soundtrack with the track "Carl's Theme," in which the lyrics play off of the character "Carl" and one of his lines in Aqua Teen Hunger Force.

FRANKLIN COUNTY TRUCKING COMPANY

Launched on 15 August 2015 Franklin County Trucking Company have been serving the Franklin County, Illinois area's trucker song needs ever since.

Franklin County Trucking Company was the brainchild of Skinny Jim Rotramel, and kicked into gear by Eddie Spaghetti.  “I had written a few truck drivin’ songs in the Number 9 Blacktops, and wanted to do an album paying respect to the old trucker country artists from the 60s, 70s, and 80s,” says Rotramel. “In 2013, Eddie and I were recording our “Cool on my Right” album in Indianapolis. We had tracked a Number 9 Blacktops’ song called Big Rig, and I mentioned to Eddie that I wanted to start a trucker band, and he said let him know when it comes time.”

Rotramel ran the idea by former Dallas Alice bandmate Sean Hopkins, who was on board from the start. “I asked Sean to write a few of the songs. He wrote half, and I wrote half. Throw in a couple of covers, that was it. We tried to see who could write them the fastest. Sean won, but not by much.”

Former Number 9 Blacktops drummer Taylor Sprehe handles the drum duties with ease. “Taylor is the hardest hitting drummer I have ever played with. Sean and I ran the songs by him one evening, and he hit the studio the next day. 4 hours later, he had them all knocked out,” states Rotramel.

As far as Supersuckers frontman Eddie Spaghetti… this project fits him to a “T”.  Eddie was to track bass and vocals after a Supersuckers show in St. Louis one night. That afternoon, Eddie and band got snowed in outside of Kansas City along with Jesse Dayton, and couldn’t make it to St. Louis. (insert wrench in gear here). This postponed the album big time. After searching for compromising schedules, Eddie flew to St. Louis in March and spent 2 days tracking bass, vocals, and assisting with production on the album at Sawhorse Studios. Engineer Jason McEntire broke his leg a few days before the session (insert another wrench into said gears), but luckily Preston Jones stepped up to assist with tracking.

The tracking for the first album was finished up late March (2017), and the project was sent off to Dave Harris at Studio B Mastering in Charlotte, NC. Cover art was based off of the old 70s trucker albums, and features West Frankfort, IL’s hometown legend “Wild” Bill Reinschmidt…

They decided to do another one! Sean and Jim split the songwriting duties again, and Eddie also threw in an original for this album. It also features Col. J. D. Wilkes of the Legendary Shack Shakers who shows up to blow some harp and pack an even bigger wallop behind this effort. They again used Sawhorse Studios in St. Louis, MO to track, and Studio B Mastering in Charlotte, NC to master the 2nd album, titled “The Further Adventures of the Franklin County Trucking Company.”  It's a trucker rock’n’roll masterpiece!
